Rev. Walter Breiner

Born June 8, 1953, was raised (most of my life) in Summit Hill Pennsylvania and graduated from Panther Valley High School. After high school I enlisted in the U.S. Navy having served as a Hospital Corpsman. After discharge I went to school on my GI Bill earning an AAS in Indoor Environmental Technologies from the Lehigh CountyCommunity College. Working many years in industry I then entered part-time studies at Liberty University earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business.

I felt the call of God and entered seminary studies at the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia, PA. Having earned a Master of Divinity degree, I was ordained into Word and Sacrament ministry in June of 2001 having served St Matthew and Zion Lutheran congregations in Weatherly, PA until December 31, 2010. I accepted a call to St Luke Union Church on January 1, 2010 until June 30, 2018 serving both Lutheran and United Church of Christ congregations. I have accepted the call to St John's Church on July 1, 2018.

Over the years the congregations and I began a sundry of outreach programs to adults such as: a single parent ministry, outreach to prisons and jails (including aftercare upon their released), and several veteran’s outreach programs.

We also began youth outreach ministries such as: cub scouts, children’s summer food program, after school/no school program, worked with Carbon County Juvenal Offices, and Friday-Night Sunday School. Each and every ministry was designed to reach a segment of the community that is often marginalized and forgotten some specifically targeted the “at risk kids”.

Each Sunday morning I am blessed to proclaim the Word of God and the Gospel of Jesus Christ as the people of God gather around the Means of Grace to receive the gifts of His love. I love teaching (youth and adults), leading Bible studies, scriptures and our confessions, most especially I love my Lord and Savior – Jesus Christ! It is a joy and privilege to share this Good News with the world. Together, we seek to share the message of hope and forgiveness found in Jesus Christ. Salvation comes through Grace Alone.  Faith Alone. Scripture Alone.

My wife Bobbie and I are married 44 years blessed to have two children Donna Marie, and Wally and 8 grandchildren! Praise God for his many blessings! I enjoy my family, gardening, reading, woodworking, vacationing with family, and my life God has given me!
